1:48 aircraft...best quality

Might add a few 1:48 to my collection. I know this is subjective but which manufacturer has the best WW II stuff? The pictures of the Carousel FW 190's look really good.

Re: 1:48 aircraft...best quality

IMHO Eagles International is the best 1/48 scale on the market.
Carousel runs a close 2nd.

Re: 1:48 aircraft...best quality

I have yet to see the Carousel 190, but if their previous releases are any indication, they will be really nice stuff.. I agree with Starman though that the EI stuff is the best in 1/48 scale..

I'll second Starman and Harry's endorsements both for Eagle Intl. and Carousel 1:48 stuff. I have 3 P-51B/C from EI and a Bf 109 from Carousel. When the third Fw 190D-13 from Carousel comes out next year, she will be mine!

I really like the Eagles International, best in this scale.

Sorry guys but from what I've seen, Carousel are not as good, particularly the Biplanes and they're also priced way too high, should be under $50. The Biplanes are toy-like compared to Corgi and lets not forget about the swazi.

Gambit, I agree with you on the price, but respectfully disagree on the Carousel biplanes being "toy-like." I have the Norman Prince Nieuport 11. I think it is a wonderful plane, very well done, not toy-like at all. What about them is "toy-like" to you?

I am, however, eagerly awaiting the WW I aircraft from Corgi! If they are as good as the Swordfish, I'll be very pleased!

Smooth glossy surfaces with little or no detail. Remind me of the texaco planes especially the flyboys. Corgi has set the benchmark for Bi-planes and Carousel is not even close.

Re: 1:48 aircraft...best quality

You sure you're no thinking of the MP Fokker Tri-planes?

But seriously, my Nieuport 11 does have a VERY slight satiny appearance to it on the upper surfaces, but it is certainly nowhere close to glossy. The Nieuport, however, is the only one I have, so I cannot speak for the others. The engine detail is wonderful, wood-looking prop with hub detail, rigging, and some (not all) control wires (which my Swordfish lacks), detailed tires...I'm not sure what else they could have added.

I do understand, however, that the "Flyboys" aircraft lacked at least the rigging and control wires.

Re: 1:48 aircraft...best quality

Carousel and Eagles are the best in 48. I will be interested to see what Hobbymaster comesout with in 1/48th. THey were talking about a Corsair and Buffalo.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.
