Display Organization

How do you have your planes/armor organized?

Do you keep all of the Mustangs together and all of the 109's together, etc.? Or do you have all different types mixed up together?

Re: Display Organization

I do a little of both. I have my GMP Mustangs together, but for the most part, I do it by era.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: Display Organization

My display patterns are a little more complex. I suppose you could call it "mixed up", but there is a method to my madness.

For example, the Spitfires Mk I and II, Hurricanes Mk I and BF109E all get displayed together - Battle of Britain, you see.

The european Mustangs, TBolts, Spits and Lightnings are displayed with the late model west-front Luftwaffe fighters.

The pacific stuff is mostly USN, all in a corner by themselves.

Re: Display Organization

Strictly by era...F-15s/-16s on one shelf, Mustangs, -109s, FW-190s etc on another, armor on another. Space, however, does present a problem now and then.

Re: Display Organization

I organize by nationality . . . all the American planes together, the German planes together, the British in their own group, as well as Japanese and Russian in their respective territories. I have the French and Italian IXO group stuck together since there aren't very many of each.

Then in each nationality, if I have more than 1 of the same plane, I put the same planes together . . . all the P-47s sit together, the Spitfires sit together, the BF-109s together, etc.

Re: Display Organization

I try to keep mine by manufacturer, but one shelf is a jumble of different stuff..

Re: Display Organization

I try to organize mine by scale and Allied vs axis -- I rotate my displays due to lack of space, just two shelves for 1:72. One will have US WWII planes of all types, the other Axis of all types -- though I try to organize by theater. And I swap out the US display with RAF every once in a while.

Aside from 1:72, I display by scale, with a small mixed scale display of Vietnam era stuff.

In a few years I hope to get a couple nice big display cabinets and do it right!

Re: Display Organization

For me I organize by type, scale and era. Although I did lump all my P-51s - all scales and manufacturer into one neat line like 'ducks in a row' type of deal.
