Re: Biplanes, Give Me More Biplanes

FlyXwire, what brand are those?

The Grumman F3F is by Accurate Miniatures and it's 1:48th, the other two are 1:32nd Hasegawa kits.

Re: Biplanes, Give Me More Biplanes

You bet!

I would also like to add these two excellent biplanes by the Curtiss Aircraft Mfg. among my must have biplanes of the 30's era.

Curtiss F9C-2 Sparrowhawk

Curtiss SBC-3 Helldiver

The Accurate Miniatures 1:48 F3F-1 was my last build; let's see... hmmm... about 2002 I think. It was a wonderful build, fun, and looks awesome. The gear was super tricky to assemble and I busted a strut, but was able to repair it without much notice. The kit came with full rigging and other photo-etched metal parts; the best detailed out of the box kit I built. It didn't go together as well as a Tamiya kit, but still real nice.

As far as bi-planes I want to see: I will take any in 1:48 or 1:32 scale, but my top two favs are:

Curtiss P-6E Hawk
Boeing P-12

I am aching for these to be built in nice diecast, but I am not holding my breath. I may eventually crack open the wallet for 1:21 scale Mahogany desktops. Anyone have one?

I would love to see one of these in 1:48...That's plane has a holds alot of memories for my Grandfather's brother...His brother flew the P6E Hawk back in the early 1930's with the 33rd Pursuit Squadron.
