| Main war of interest What is your ONE MAIN war of interest? I'm interested in ALL periods or wars, BUT WWII always has been and always will be my MAIN interest. If I had to pick ONE, it would be WWII. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Main war of interest I would pick WW I. I branched out into WW II when I had read everything I could get my hands on (this was when I was a poor teenager, understand-now I'm a poor adult!) about WW I aviation. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Main war of interest I love all history, but my favorite is WWII. My primary focus is on the Pacific Theatre from the early 1930s to V-J Day. Love all the carrier and island hopping stuff. My second passion is the American Civil War. I'm a history geek throughout. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Main war of interest Well that's a good one....I started with WWI Air War then fell back 40 yrs to the Indian Wars with Custer and the little Big Horn.(This happened in High School during a school history project) Then back to WWI on to WWII Air Wars which has been my favorite. Korea and Nam were good for the jet age. JP | |||||||||||||

| Re: Main war of interest Like some other history buffs have declared, the Civil War is my main interest, but except for tethered balloons there was no air activity. That also excludes England's naval activity during the Napoleonic era. WWII had interesting aircraft on all sides, with Germany being especially innovative, but I favor the Pacific theater. Korea and Vietnam were essentially one-sided as far as air warfare, Vietnam more so. In Korea, the Spads and Corsairs supported the ground troops, with the jets primarily foraging. The allied assemblage of aircraft during Vietnam was extensive, against a largely absent North Vietnam air capability. Again, this proved that Curtis LeMay was wrong about air being all you needed; you need troops to take and hold ground, with air to supply superiority coverage and ground support. The Vietnam skies saw Spads, T-28 Trojans, C-47 (Spooky and Puff), C-123, C-130, O-1 Bird-dog, Skymaster, OV-10, B-57 Canberra, B-52, A-4, F-4, A-6, F-100, F-105, etc., and many un-represented or under-represented (except for the UH-1E and Cobras) helicopters. LOTS of good aircraft there. Besides, I have a a personal interest. | |||||||||||||
