Re: Main war of interest

WWI. I'm glad we're finally getting diecast bi-planes.

So far, Tri, it's just you and me for WW I, my brother!

Re: Main war of interest

I am a history buff all around, but I enjoy WWII the best.. It just seems like it was the classic battle of good and evil. I think I like the time period the best as well. The cars, the way the women dressed and of course the aircraft. The early Jets of Korea would be second.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

I guess that leaves we two to make the decisions about future WWI planes. Corgi, Carousel1 & Model Power we're awaiting your calls!

Re: Main war of interest

For me it will always be WWII. My collection certainly mirrors my interest. Korea and Vietnam also are of interest. One should note the ungratefulness of the Chinese who forgot the allies help in wwII and assisted the N. Koreans in their effort to overrun S.Korea. Dishonourable mention also to the Russians. Swoop.

Same for me. I was born just a little too late (1949). I've heard and read WWII Vets say the same thing. Even with WWII raging they felt it was a classic time period.

The 1980s were also a classic time period in their own right ... !

Lets hear it for the 60s. pushing the frontiers of science with all those new and exciting jets. Not to mention mini skirts, Beatles, Stones etc etc.

Re: The Forgotten War

I have to say Korea. It deserves so much more documentation and discussion than it gets. You want to talk about kids not knowing history today? Ask a kid, heck ask his teacher, about the Battle of Chosin Reservoir. They'll probably tell you that they don't know that much about WWII or Vietnam.

Re: Main war of interest

It is horrible to think that most of what people know about Korea comes from watching M*A*S*H. DOn't get me wrong, I love the show, but not too much is really said about the real conflict. On a side note, M*A*S*H set in the Korean War, lasted longer than the actual conflict.
