NASA Models

Just to note on the space stuff;
I had Nick Proach's 1/48 scale Saturn V and Saturn 1B models. The Saturn stood just a bit over 8 feet tall and was an incredibley beautiful model. The 1B was almost 5 feet tall. A smaller scale would still be fantastic and I would absolutely purchase one. I do believe though that you would need to market it in whole. Nick's V was $ 4500, not a cheap piece to add to the collection. also had his 1/48th models of previous launch vehichles. That might be the better way to go if you want to truly measure the market before hand. Here is a shot of those along with the 1B and my son Michael.

Re: whats next after the A-6

Hey, Trip, is that the model they used in the fake moonshot films from 1969?

I've spent my money on strippers, diecast airplanes and camera gear. The rest, I've wasted.

Re: whats next after the A-6

Many of the Time-Warner Moonshot show models were Nick Proach's models. Nick has also done quite a bit of work with Tom Hanks on th Earth to the Moon series. NASA as well uses his model shop for many of their publicity functions. One of my Redstones orders with Nick got procured for the Glenn Shuttle launch. My model was sitting on the CNN set for that launch.

My wife managed to obtain a scale model of the LM from some guy in Canada who hand builds the things. We saw the model in a display at the Kennedy Space Center and my wife asked one of the staff members where/if it could be purchased. About a year later, she gave it to me for my birthday. I was truly surprised!

I'll post a pic later.

Re: whats next after the A-6

Cool! I was wondering if it was built by Nick.

The model I have is not the actual one from the display at Kennedy. They would not sell it (no surprise), but were very nice and told my wife who to contact. My wife contacted the builder directly and the model took about a year to complete. I'll ask her if she still has the gentleman's info.

From the Earth to the Moon.....That is really nice looking...I would love to get something like that.
I have only seen Pacific Aircraft space items which are nice too...But these are sweet.

Nasa Models

I moved this post over here for you guys to talk about the NASA Collectibles.
Since it was getting off topic in the Century Wings area.
