Admiral's Future

I went to the Admiral site and the last "update" was Feb. 07. I purchased their PZIII, and was very pleased. It now appears to me that Admiral is "off the radar." Their Su-85, 1/72 has been listed for pre-order for about a year at a webstore, but has no picture. I do like their armor line, but fear that Admiral is not going to be with us much longer. I certainly hope I'm wrong. Jason hasn't reported in a long while. A friend of mine has pre-ordered 8 of the PZIII, M, and says that Admiral reports that the tanks will be in the U.S. Oct. 18. Has anyone heard how Admiral is doing? I do know that their 1/18 planes have gotten very good reviews. What's up?

Re: Admiral's Future

I posed the same question on another thread a few months age. The replies by several members seemed to suggest that Admiral is closing down, however the delays might also be caused by its switch from metal to all-plastic production, which they announced earlier this year. I have also pre-ordered several of their tanks, including the Japanese Type 97, and I hope that your information about the resumption of deliveries is correct.

Re: Admiral's Future

I just went to the Small Scale Forum and Jason (Admiral Toys) has posted, yesterday, concerning their upcoming planes - Dauntless. Go to Direct From the Source, and you will see the Admiral Toys thread. Evidently, they are still in business and plan releases. Of course, he only mentions their planes.

Thanks for the tip. I checked Jason's comments on the Small Scale Forum, as you suggested, and remain somewhat confused. Sure enough, it's our old friend Jason talking primarily about a 1:18 F-86 along with various comments about sales procedures, production issues, etc, but nothing about the tanks they were supposedly planning. Seems odd that Admiral doesn't want members of this forum to know what they are doing.

Wink Re: Admiral's Future

Sound like the Pz III Ausf. M will be here in three weeks, today's date 10-27-07.

Just in case you didn't know Admiral Toys and 'The Toy Headquarters' are operated out of the same address, probably same individual, but different business. Really, you have to admire someone willing to put it on the line to manufacturer a model like this. I don't know the startup costs, but it can't be too cheap and the actual cost to purchase isn't bad considering the metal content. I'm sorry to hear the will be going to plastic, seem like Hobby Master will also be going to plastic, I really do enjoy the feel of the die-cast metal. Oh well, I'm into the 1:72 models more than the die-cast collecting thing.
