Re: Admiral Toys' M41 Walker Bulldog!!

Tri-motor and Sergey are right. I'll be passing on this one. The Bulldog never saw combat with US forces, with only a couple arriving in Korea during the final days of the war for field trials, and none ever making to Vietnam. It was used by the ARVN forces in Vietnam. This came up when 21st Century toys released a Bulldog as part of its 1:32 scale line. The Chaffee would have been an excellent choice as it fought during the last 6 months of WW2, and then was the first US tank into combat against the NK's T-34/85s during the Korean war.

Re: Admiral Toys' M41 Walker Bulldog!!

I love the fact that Admiral is willing to create moulds for the more obscure tanks. The quality of the line is excellent and I am for one very excited about anything they create. Thanks for the scoop!

Re: Admiral Toys' M41 Walker Bulldog!!

Thanks, Jason. Given all the (non-US Army) users of this tank, may I register a suggestion for the liveries of the New Zealand Army and the ARVN?

Better do a contemporary Thai Army version. Just saw the Bulldog rolling down the streets of Bangkok taking part in the Coup on CNN!!!!

Re: Admiral Toys' M41 Walker Bulldog!!

From globalsecurity.org................................ .............................

"The M41 has been exported to Brazil (300), Chile (60), Denmark, Dominican Republic (12), Guatemala (10), Somalia (10), Taiwan (675), Thailand (200) and Tunisia (10). Many of these tanks remain in service around the world, thanks to updates that have included replacing the old gasoline engine with a new diesel powerpack (500 hp Cummins VTA-903T). The 76 mm gun is improved with a new type of high performance anti-tank round (APFSDS from AAI International). Other improvements includes an NBC system, thermal night vision system with integrated laser rangefinder (Ericsson Radio Systems), night vision periscope (Texas Instruments) as well as Halogen searchlight mounted on the gun mantlet

Taiwan's M41D life extension system upgrade includes a new, locally produced 76mm main gun, new diesel engine, thermal targeting system, digital ballistics computer and laser rangefinder, and reactive armor. However, the tank lacks stabilized sights and cannot fire on the move, and is relegated to scouting and counter-amphibious operations."

I think I'll get at least one

I can't decide if I want the Dominican Republic or the Guatamlan livery....Also do any of them have an ABC or ESPN system?

Brazilian and Danish M-41 are pretty good looking with all the modern add ons. Judging by pics of today's coup, Thai's Bulldogs are still being used for something.

Regards,

Sergey

Smile Re: Admiral Toys' M41 Walker Bulldog!!

I don't really care if the M41 Bulldog tank was used during Korea or Vietnam. I was an interesting tank. If went by only the tanks used in great number, we would have only the Sherman, T-34, T-54/55, and M-60 and a very barren landscape.. I would be absolutely crazy to see any of the WW I tanks (Mark V, Renault, A7V). I prefer greatly die-cast makes of tanks. Dragon's editions, lack something, that the die-cast have. The heft of the die-cast is great in any tank, especially those not produced earlier.
