Exclamation Re: Poll: what about a Brit WW2 25 pounder?

Dear Admiral,

It doesn't matter who it is but.............

.............. if you are a true 1.72 die-cast collector you must wish for a British 25 pounder field gun, an ammo trailer ( caisson ) married to the ubiquitous Quad tractor which saw action from North Africa to Europe to the Far East.

If you are British, you may recall that every schoolboy from 1954 to the 1970s wanted to own the only decent version in existence, the Dinkey Toys version in about 1.43 scale. This was the queen of the battlefield on many bedroom floors.

The Dinkey version was solid and basic with not too much detail, but they sold in millions! Also, the Dinkey version did not try to include the 360 degree traversing ring which the gunners mounted the gun wheels on for ease of traverse in action. This was carried under the gun when towed or sometimes on the rear of the Quad. You can still pick up a decent specimen on ebay at a reasonable price...there are still a lot out there!

The 88 may look lethal ( and was ) but the 25 pounder, its traversing ring, the ammunition carrier and the Quad tractor all in metal would be a coup for Admiral ( or Dragon or ? ).

Let's think about that one.

That's a really good idea and I don't normally like British guns. The whole piece put together, from the vehicle that moved it to the ammo trailer and then to the gun itself would look very well all lined up together.

Crescent toys made the best 25 pounder that came with the ring which you could get as a set with a limber and a Saladin armoured car. Corgi made a version with limber and quad.

Re: Poll: what about a Brit WW2 25 pounder?

There is a chap over in the here in the UK that has the full real life set up. He goes around the shows and fairs with it. I wish I had taken photos, the set up is complete and original even down the spade strapped onto the Quad. If I can I will find out about where this is and try for photos.

As a Airplane collector, I would like to see vehicles that I can use for diorama's or to accessorise my planes. Jeeps, Staff Cars, halftracks, Anti-aircraft Guns and vehicles would all be welcome.

Re: Poll: what would you like Admiral to do next?

I would love to see the Panzer II (Luchs), Panzer IV (at least one from A to F1 and one from F2 to J) and Panzer I (command tank? driving school?), but what I'm really missing are the World War I tanks (German A7V, British Mark IV / Mark V, French Renault FT-17).

I'll second that!

Re: Poll: what would you like Admiral to do next?

A3Driver,
Hey there.

WWI tanks are a great idea! I'm not sure how big they would be, but it would make awesome diecast. Anyone else like that idea?

The early WWII tanks are another neat idea. Let just make sure it's not limited to German tanks. I'd love to see some of the ealr French tanks produced.

The accessories, like jeeps and the whatnot seems like it would work well too.

How far down the road to Admiral have their line planned? How flexible is their schedule?

I'm right there with you on the French tanks, including the ones captured and used by the Germans.
