I think you just made a bunch of guys' testicles shrivel up with that one, JC!.....

Awww, my apologies! But really it sounds tougher than it is. The real trick is holding the model stable while drilling the strut. This is kinda tricky due to the radio wires running from tail to wing tips, but still not to bad.
I really do encourage any collector/builder to learn this method as it helps greatly in repairing delicate, broken parts such as prop blades and gear struts. Prop and gear repairs are a must w/ my 72nd collection. The occasional drop, while dusting or for me a kitten w/ a "Godzilla giong to the airport" fixation do cause me occasional grief.
