| Photos IXO Beaufighter Another IXO addition until something better comes along in the near future I hope. This aircraft (not this model) has always been one of my WW 2 favourites. It's sheer size, power, and armament are impressive. Enough of this waxing lyrical and on to the review.
As you expect from IXO there are heavy panel lines, little general detail. A skilled modeller would have a field day upgrading this model. I removed the cockpit and inserted a spare pilot figure (I know I'm a lucky SOB). The seat assembly comes out in a module and underneath this module I struck oil! Talk about Jim's oily IXOs! You could have powered a two stroke Yamaha 50 on the amount of the bloody stuff! I eventually mopped up all the oil with a soft tissue.
The pilot takes the bare look of the front part of the fuselage. Massive gaps between the wing root and fuselage, basic U/C legs but all these could be remedied by the experts on this forum. The tail plane dihedral may be wrong as I think it is to steeply angled.
The RPs are great, massive amount of metal in the model. Worth buying IMHO. |
