Madrid - Spain (EU) | | | | Re: Some reviews The Hummel/Nashorn series by Dragon are little masterpieces regarding accuracy and mould crispness, even down to a very well detailed interior for the scale. I have no complaints about this "Hornisse" (the initial name by which these self-propelled anti-tank guns were known, before Hitler himself remarked the inadequacy of that term (meaning "hornet") for a tank hunter; initial production versions have retained the older name "Hornisse" in some of the specialized literature, with the later name "Nashorn" (meaning "rhinoceros") being usually applied to later vehicles). Dragon has modelled a real vehicle of sPzJgAbt 525 as it was photographed in March 1944 (see photo) at Pontecorvo, a small village in the so-called Hitler Line not far from Cassino, Italy. This line was only a few miles North of the Gustav Line on the coast, and crossing the Liri valley met the latter Line near Cassino. The Line (renamed Dora Line by Hitler himself, who did not want his own name associated with defeat...) would be definitely breached by British, Canadian, and Polish troops during late May. In the meantime, our "211" trains itself in the "noble sport" of tank hunting, and anxiously awaits the allied tsunami coming from the South-East, and now maybe also from the North-West after the allied landings at Anzio, a town not far removed from the point where the Hitler Line met the coast, in January. To sum it all up, this model is simply a must-have - Wow! |
