Here it is!

Here is my IXO P-40N remodel. It was a lot of fun and the plane looks great next to my other P-40s. First a short review of the IXO model.

Pros: The model's dimensions and shape are accurate. The stabilizers are in the right spot. The original markings are correct. The decking behind the cockpit is correct as well. The landing gear is strong enough to support the model which is good as the model is heavy.

Cons: This is an IXO model - that means deep, blackened panel lines, missing details, and poorly fitting parts. The landing gear is all one piece - no spinning tires and very simple. There are no gear doors - at all! I had to make some for the tail wheel. The wheel wells and cockpit decking are not chromate green. As posted earlier in this thread, IMHO the colors are way too dark.

Model: P-40N-1, Pilot Officer Samuel Hammer, 90th FS/ 80th FG, Moran, India, 1944

Colors: Testor Modelmaster Olive Drab (FS 34087), Testor Flat Gray 1163, Testor Flat Green 1164, Testor Dullcoat spray

Decals: SuperScale Decal No. 72-862
