Thumbs down Re: Masters of the Air

FVD, you couldn't more off base if you'd earned a Ph.D in Die Cast Aircraft models. The Germans, Japanese and the Italians were our enemies and, in the case of the Japanese, very nasty ones at that. That said, I have many issues in 1:72 of our former enemy combatants, and I collect them because I grew up during WW II and want to remember that era through the planes that fought the air battles.

Sweden and Switzerland were declared neutrals and, for the most part Sweden lived up to its neutrality commitment. The Swiss, on the other hand were practically hand-in-glove- with the Nazis. They often shot down heavily damaged bombers heading for a safe place to land; they SHOT American aircrews attempting to leave the confines of the "Hotel Keepers of the World", and some, not all, prisioners did hard time in medieval type prisons. Not a pretty record, especiall when compared to the Swedes.

Ad hominum criticism of me doesn't work, I'm too old for it to be effective. Why don't you buy, borrow, visit the library, or steal a copy and read Masters of the Air., especially Chapter Twelve. When you do, you'll better understand my utter distain for the Swiss.

NB Don't get this Episcopalian started on the Swiss government's treatment of the Jews, e.g., millions of dollars and precious jewels never returned to their rightful owners. Truely shameful
