New York, New York | | | | Which WW II Diecast Planes Would You Buy If Offered For the First Time In 1:48 Scale? As many of us who collect in different scales know all to well, relatively few World War II diecast warbirds are available in 1:48 scale as opposed to the more common choice-1:72. Here are some of the most mentioned planes on the wishlists posted on this forum that are not at present out in 1:48 ( Marushin excluded ). U.S.: TBF/TBM, TBD, SB2C,P-39, P-36, A-20, Kingfisher, PBY. Great Britain: Spitfire MK XXI, Tempest MK V, Beaufighter, Hudson, Swordfish. USSR: IL-2M, I-16, Yak-3, Yak-9, LA5FN, PE-2. Germany:BF-110C, BF-410, DO-17Z, DO-217E, FI-156, Arado 196, ME-163. Italy: MC-200, MC-202/05, SM-79 , Fiat CR-42. Japan: Val, Kate, Nick, Oscar, Tony, Frank, Tojo, Betty, Sally, Nell. Others: Fokker DXXI, PLZ-11, IAR-80, MS-406, Dewoitine D-520. My question is this: Which three of these, in rank order of preference, would you buy if a reliable manufacturer offered you the entire list to choose from?My picks would be 1) MC-202, 2) Tony, 3) IL-2m. |
