On the morning of the 4th of July, 1952, the skies over Korea were filled with the Russian made MIG-15. On that eventful day, Captain Clifford D. Jolley of the United States Air Force led a flight of F-86s. The mission of Captain Jolley and his men was to protect a group of friendly fighter bombers in the Sakchu area of Korea. All was well until, from above, two MIG-15s dove down on Captain Jolley and his group. By instinct, Captain Jolley positioned himself behind one of the enemy MIGs and damaged it with a blast from his six 50-caliber machineguns. The MIG pilots soon realized they were out-piloted and escaped across the Yalu River. However, later that same day over Shinuiju, Captain Jolley was again attacked, this time by four MIG-15s. He was hit by the MIGs’ ammunition and was wounded, his aircraft badly damaged. Instead of running for safety and immediately ditching his Sabre, Captain Jolley regained control of his aircraft. He stayed in the fight, destroyed one MIG-15 that was attacking his wingman, and drove off another. A few minutes later, Captain Jolley damaged yet another MIG in a brief encounter. Injured and with a damaged F-86, Captain Jolley began to proceed out to sea when he received a distress call from his wingman. Despite the condition of his aircraft, which was severely damaged by the shots from the MIGs and low on fuel, and ignoring the pain of his own wounds, Captain Jolley immediately made a 180-degree turn to his wingman's aid. Because of Captain Jolley’s selfless courage, the remaining MIG retreated. Through his heroic gallantry in action against determined enemy opposition, Captain Jolley reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force. On September 29, 1952, Captain Clifford D. Jolley was awarded the Silver Star by direction of the President of the United States.

FU-834 is an F-86E Sabre manufactured by North American Aviation and flown by Captain Clifford D. Jolley while he was stationed in Korea with the 335th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron. Captain Clifford D. Jolley was accredited as an Ace with a total of 7 downed enemy aircraft by the end of his distinguished career.

This model has working airbrakes, landing gear, canopy, leading edge slats, ammunition doors, stabilizers, ruder and flaps. The paint is very nice with an abundant amount of tampo-printed warning labels. This aircraft has more writing on it then any other 1:18 scale model produced.
