Correct, but the problem is in estimating what "a chance" means. In some cases it might be pretty clear that there's no practical chance (He-162, Do-335 come to mind), but in other cases, who knows. But the few IXOs I have were bought based on that general philosophy.
Personally, I don't think IXOs are as bad as some would lead you to believe, at least the ones I have (which granted is only a small sample). Compared to others, they are a bit crude (although overall shapes are fairly well respected), detailing is sparse, and hues in particular are a bit too bright in general. But I just received my He-219 yesterday and I really like it, even with its imperfections. Maybe it's just because I really like that plane and I'm just happy someone made a diecast model of it.
