| Re: An Introduction to Planetary Defense: A Study of Modern Warfare Applied to Extra- Don't lose any sleep over this one Guys.
If an alien culture's technology possessed the power and transport to visit Earth from even the nearness of the few stars with planets in our neighbourhood, yhey would treat us with the same degree of contempt as Earthly colonialist powers treated and destroyed the native cultures they came across in the last 10,000 years!
Rather than invading us, I think that they would take a few images/impressions, grab a few samples, pick up a few artifacts then leave to visit a far more interesting and less muddled planet.
The only reason which aliens might be interested in our planet is the hypothesis postulated in H.G. Wells' " War of the Worlds". Wells hit on the idea of writing a novel set in his near future which applied the attitude of the colonialists to our world towards primitive peoples. In this warped-mirror universe, the colonialists are the aliens from Mars, and we are the natives who gaze in awe at the power of the 'New People'!
If an alien culture wishes to grab our real estate, then there is little we can do about it. |
