New York, New York | | | | Most Aesthetically Pleasing Plane of World War II I've always regarded Italy's Mc-202 as the most aesthetically pleasing combat plane of WW II. Its clean lines and graceful look contrasted starkly with opponents like the U.S. P-47 or Great Britain's Hurricane, and the Mc -202 could have been extremely effective if it had competitive armament (most had only two machine guns ). Other candidates for most beautiful plane of WW II include the Spitfire-especially the late war marks- along with the P-51D, RE-2005, FW-190D, Mosquito, Yak-3 and even the Zero. I realize that beauty is often in the eyes of the beholder, so maybe you guys would make different choices. What say you? |
