| 1/144 Vickers Valiant I posted on another forum sometime ago that I would be constructing a 1/144 scale Vickers Valiant B2 to go with my collection from a normal Vickers Valiant kit. In the past, I have constructed the meteorological Herucles "Snoopy" XV208 from a Corgi Herc. The herc i used was the 2 tone brown raf herc. I used modelling clay again for the top pod, the 2 extra fuel tanks were from a 1/72 jet provost kit. I used the original roundels for the fuselage and for the wings i used the decals from the provest kit. The serial number was stenciled on using a marker pen. It is modelled of when it was first in service.
After obtaining many photos and info together with scale drawings of the Valiant B2, I decided to go for it.
Once completed, I was very pleased with the results and fits in just perfect with the rest.
Here are some pics to show you. Not completely accurate but it is up to my standard. You can see the fuselage has been lengthened compared to the camouflage one by cutting the nose off and filling in with milliput to the correct length, nacelles are modelling clay, the main landing gear is from a TU-16 "Badger", with re-angling of the legs, the doors are pasticard. The serial number was transfers from a Welsh model kit in light blue, so i had to hand paint over them and the main model is a George Turner model. (Sorry about the blurred close-ups)
Any other questions, feel free to ask - enjoy!
I will also post pics os "Snoopy" and the rest of my collection. Also just finishing off aswell a Tupolev Tu-160 "Blackjack", Tupolev Tu-22M "Backfire", Tupolev Tu-95 "Bear-H" and a VC-10 in th RAE scheme XX914 |
