Well MD, Dick Cole said that Doolittle was HIS hero growing up. He used to ride his bike as a kid to the airport in Dayton, Ohio and watch him fly! We also discussed the B-25 that was reportedly found off the China coast. We also discussed what became of his bomber and what they were to do with them if they did make it to a safe landing. They were to turn them over to the AVG Flying Tigers!!! Dick returned to China to fly with the First Air Commandos. Last month he was invited to the show in Dallas and they took him up in a B-25 and he flew it from take off to landing. When asked if it was like riding a bicycle, he laughingly responded "Yea, but with training wheels" |
