Re: New Valiant Minatures

Thanks for the comparison chart, LegioLXXll. It looks like a scene from " The Usual Suspects" It is obvious from the chart/comparison pic. that the Valiant figures are way over scale!

MoMo, that was darn funny! No offense to the wargamers out there, but that line about the dwarf metal slugs made me laugh out loud! Anyway, what the heck is up with these new figs? Talk about missing the mark! Are they being marketed by Valiant as being 1/72 scale?

Hi Easy Eight! I posted this information because, as you may have surmised, the figures are marketed as 1.72 scale. Many AFV collectors are modellers too, but most of the guys who collect and paint figures in the USA, and other areas where distances may be a problem, buy their stuff Mail Order and have it shipped to them.

On paper, this set is great. It has everything a true modeller could wish for : 68 figures; 40 spare heads in 4 varieties; hard plastic for easy painting and conversion; a dozen spare arms for varying poses; seperate weapons for varying poses, etc.

I wanted to warn forum members that this set will not fit in with their 1.72 AFVs or any figures which they have in 1.72. In other words, I am telling them to save their cash if they think that they are buying a dream set ( which this would have been if it was true to scale! )

To be fair to Valiant, they have inserted a leaflet which clearly states that the set is suitable for collectors who want to play wargames, and that it was designed with the game " Rapid Fire" in mind. It even furnishes a link to a site which downloads a cut-down version of " Rapid Fire".

As I said, it's too bad about this set. It is now, in my opinion, one of the great ' might have beens '!
