New Valiant Minatures

Watch out for this company if you buy mail order figures and you are expecting a set of 1.72 to appear! I sent this email to the guys at Plastic Soldier Review, 1.72. I copied it to here for those of you who were looking forward to the two new sets, as I was. The sets have lots of bits in hard plastic and they would have made a very useful addition to any plastic modeller's range. The scale of them is too much to ignore.

At £8.99 a set for 64 figures, and with many innovative touches, these sets had the potential to become the best Germans ever! Twelve basic poses with lots of interchangable arms and heads + many loose weapons.

Dear Plastic Soldier Review 1.72 Review Guys,

I don't know if you have recieved sets of the new Valiant Germans and Tommies, WW2 sets, but you have to see the scale of these things to believe them!

They are more like 1.64 scale. When you get round to commenting, I think that the scale has to be the Big Issue!

The set looked very promising. I bought the German set for the loose heads, which I thought would be very useful. The poses looked appealing...lots of figures advancing...good for dioramas. I took a chance, thinking that they couldn't be that wildly out of scale. I was wrong. These guys appear to be ubermensch when compared to most figures. They even make Ceasar Germans look like midgets.

This had the potential to be a brilliant set, in hard plastic and with lots of parts to make a variety of variations.

Too bad! At £8.99 a set, they're great if you want to buy one set and no others. They appear to be aimed at wargamers who can mix them in with those dwarf-like metal slugs which they are so fond of.

If none of this is news to you, treat it as a 'Hello' from someone who watches your site avidly.
