Also, look into Smedley Butler - one of only 2 Marines in U.S. history to have won the Medal of Honor twice (again, not exactly a pacifist "liberal"). He rose from the enlisted ranks to the officer class as a career Marine. He has some VERY interesting perspectives on war and war profiteering. Does his perspective still hold relevence today in 2007? Look him up and you decide. |
