I'm not convinced that your hint at sarcasm has merit Mustangdriver. If we assume that your statement is even remotely accurate (based on your figure of 70%), it still means that approximately
30% do have electricity i.e.
nearly 450 million people, which is somewhat more than the current US population of 300 million people in total ...
(I'm not trying to be a smart-ass or being patronising but any comparisons we make should take all variables into account and not be based merely on perceptions.)
