Re: King & Country takes off

Hi guys, the "workshop" aircraft models pictured are handmade from timber and plastic parts and were a very limited edition (five of each model made).

King & Country have not yet indicated the material that the "factory" made versions will be constructed from, but I feel that a complete plastic or diecast model is unlikely. Most of their military vehicles are made from "polystone" which is a compound made from resin and calcium carbonate (marble dust).

The detail parts are usually made from plastic and/or resin. "Polystone" is a heavy material which would make freight on 1/30 aircraft rather expensive if that material is used. I suspect the manufacturers are considering a number of alternative materials at this stage, and I will let you guys know when I find out what the verdict is.

A price range has not been indicated to date. However I could say with some confidence that the factory range is likely to sell for more than the aircraft in the Corgi 1/32 range. However the King & Country "factory" aircaft will be issued in much lower numbers than the Corgi 1/32 models were.

The models will be made in Kong Kong but their dealership base is worldwide. The US is their major market so I feel sure they will be available to US customers and others.

I noted the comment suggesting engraved panel lines rather than painted lines and will pass that on to the manufacturer.
