| Thanks for the info, but it's about as home developed as pretty much every weapons system China produces. The airframe and complete electronics package are of Israeli Lavi project while the engines are Russian, which Chinese can't even manufacture due to their complexity and high cost.

Yes, all that's true, but the fact remains that China has come out with its own fighter aircraft project. You can certainly see the Lavi in the J-10, but of course, who paid for the Lavi. What impresses me about this airplane is its manuverability, at a time when the USAF still has F-15s in most of its legacy force, while the Navy only has F-18s. You'll certainly see Russia happy to sell China those engines, but don't be surprised if China can reverse engineer them...they have before.
The Chinese put this project together, and there's no license limits to how many they can buy. Coupled with the Su-27 and Su-30, China will have a potent High Low mix of Air Superiority aircraft.
