| I just got a 21st Century 1/18 M48 Patton, Series 1 and my question about it is: What is the inverted L-shaped antenna-like device located on top of the turret just forward of the two hatches? | |||||||||||||

| Re: M48 Patton question? Never mind---I found the answer---it prevents the tank commander's machine gun from hitting the searchlight. | |||||||||||||

| Re: M48 Patton question? STARMAN352ND: I don't have photos of the M48 Series 1 I bought, but here are internet photos of it (the seller gave me three figures---two tank commanders and one infantry figure). The inverted L-shaped searchlight guard in front of the lower 50 cal. machine gun is visible in the last photo. ![]() ![]() ![]() | |||||||||||||

| Re: M48 Patton question? Also, my used M48 Series 1 cost me $40 delivered, although a new M48 Series 2 goes for around $60 delivered. I wanted the Series 1 because I like the darker olive drab with a little weathering, black treads and it came with three figures. The Series 2 is a brighter green with brown treads, no weathering with no figures. I had a Monogram M48 when I was a kid and the Series 1 was closer to the Monogram than the Series 2. | |||||||||||||

| Re: M48 Patton question? Here is the M48 Series 2. Compare it to the Series 1 in the first photo and you'll see why I bought the Series 1 (note the Series 2's lighter green, brown treads and no crewman): ![]() | |||||||||||||
