Re: 1/32 Corsair

Thanks for the update on the snake Stuka..
Don't ya just love it when there always updating paint schemes finding out new info base on new pictures and so fourth.
That reminds me of the old Werner Voss Fokker Dr.1 cowl cover...Was it Yellow,Black or Olive like the streakings were on the plane.
To this very day they still debate on that cowl color .

Re: 1/32 Corsair

The snake Stuka looks nice but i thought the snake had red spots on it not tan like 21st made theirs.
JP

Actually, the red on the snake stuka seems to be the perpetuation of a myth based on an early photo and one person's interpretation. Recently uncovered photos of the entire aircraft indicate that the scales of the snake were tan in color because they match the shade of the tan camouflage very closely. The eye, on the other hand, appears to have some red on it. In any case, an article on snake stukas (there were at least 2) using this new information appears in the book "Luftwaffe Im Focus, edition 7" (pp24-27). Email me if you'd like more info.

THE HOG IS MINE! Big Hog is in at Walmart. Plenty of Snake Stukas to be had too but little else.

Choice of bombs or tanks and rockets on the wings too.

Hey parsig, where did you get those cool stands?

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Thanks. I only have the one and it was a gift but I think it was from Historic Aviation, though when I tried to find it again on their site I couldn't. Seems I saw it in their catalogue and mentioned how I liked them. Dad must have been paying attention...

I've never seen another like it and would gladly buy more. They even support like Corgi 1/32 planes. Very sturdy and adjustable too.

If you have a Hobby Lobby, they carry these stands, but they aren't cheap, Like $20 each....

Re: 1/32 Corsair

I'm very much looking forward to getting my Corsair. I'm glad they seem to have made some improvements over their 1:18 version--the most noticeable to me on the big plane was that the canopy was not a real bubble--it just followed the contour of the fuselage.

This smaller version seems to have gotten that right. And for those of us who like to display our models with the gear down, having the cowl flaps open is a nice touch.

I've seen what I think is a production model with the gear down, and it does look like the doors on the struts (the air brakes) will need to be re-shaped, but this shouldn't present a problem. I'll also have to add a bit more tape to the fuel tank seams near the cockpit, and change a few things, like the antenna mast on the vertical stabilizer (it's facing the wrong direction).

If GMP isn't producing a Corsair, this looks to be a good, inexpensive substitute. I haven't seen a 1:32 Corsair since the last time I built a Revell model. I'd love to see more models in this size, especially in die-cast. This is the perfect size to display fantastic, museum-quality detail, as can be seen on the GMP models.

Does anyone have any other pictures? Any ideas on if any of Boyington's Corsairs will be reproduced?

Here's another one of their 1st 1/32 Corsair's to hit the market.
Pappy Boyington's Corsair would be great too in 1/32 scale.
At one time last year the new 1/18 Boyington Corsair was going to come out and then it was delayed and have heard nothing more on the matter.

Re: 1/32 Corsair

Great pic! It looks like the "stretched fabric" of the outer wing and tail surfaces has been far better modeled than was done on the 1:18 version.
