| F4 Corsair 1/18 - 21st or BBI? Hey guys! I'm new here, so hello everyone! I'm thinking of buying a F4 Corsair, but I don't know which one. I have to decide between the F4 Checkerboard (21st Century Toys) and the "Daisy Jane" (BBI). Which model can you recommend? Which one is more detailed/realistic? Thanks for your answers! | Re: F4 Corsair 1/18 - 21st or BBI? FIGHTIN: I own the BBI F4U "Daisy June" and am very happy with it. Unlike the BBI P-51 (I own two---"Donald Duck" and "Cripes A Mighty 3rd"). the "Daisy June" doesn't have any defects (wing dihedral, bomb rack and tail gear in the wrong position). I don't own the 21st F4U, but on the other message board, Smallscalehq.com, it's virtually unanimous that the BBI F4U is better than the 21st F4U in terms of detail. Based on that, I bought the Daisy June. | |||||||||||||

| Re: F4 Corsair 1/18 - 21st or BBI? Hands down the BBI corsair better than the 21C corsair. We only use BBI corsairs for our custom planes due to the detail and quality of the models. Besides that, latest rumor on 21C is that it is questionable if they will continue to operate or close up shop. You can't go wrong with BBI. | |||||||||||||

| Re: F4 Corsair 1/18 - 21st or BBI? Where did the rumor about 21st Century come from? I hope they are able to bring out the MKV Spitfire. Is that why we have not heard from them on there web site since June? | |||||||||||||

| Re: F4 Corsair 1/18 - 21st or BBI? Yea..I heard about Roy he will be missed...21st was not very smart to let Roy go..... I hope to see him with Admiral or BBI someday. As far as the Corsairs go..I have a Pappy Boyington and Kepford Corsairs made by 21st and their both my favorites...I also had the BBI Marines Dream which is about the best detailed 1:18 Corsair to date... I wish BBI would make a Boyington Corsair as well because that is my favorite USMC WWII ace....Maybe someday they will who knows.. JP | |||||||||||||

| Re: F4 Corsair 1/18 - 21st or BBI? I have a 21st Century and a BBI Corsair, and both have their pluses and minuses. In my opinion, the 21st Corsair looks more the part. When unfolded, the wings on my BBI Corsair don't have the right diahedral. They sag a bit like on the 1/32 Corsair. The landing gear is better on the 21st Corsair. It has a locking arm as on the real aircraft, and the tires aren't too skinny as they are on the BBI. 21st also got the tailwheel right...the BBI has the wheel exposed on one side, which is inaccurate. The detailing is far superior on the BBI Corsair with an amazing cockpit and some really nice features like movable control surfaces and flaps. Its up to you. I like them both, but for paint schemes and overall look, I'd go for the 21st version. | |||||||||||||
