Question BBI 1:18 F-18 VFA 103 Jolly Rogers

Hello you guys,

I am new here and my first topic is about the Blue Box Toys (BBI) F-18 VFA 103 Jolly Roger, I know this plane was a limited run release and is very rare at the moment. I would like to buy one on eBay but I was wondering if someone of you guys know if this model really (did) excist? as I don't know it, I am mainly specialized is Russian and European jets.

Here is a picture of the BBI 1:18 model:

Reference photo's of the F-18 VFA-103Jolly Roger:

I am desperate for some reference photo's and maybe the story about of the real (complete black) stunning looking aircraft! The only ones I found are not complete black and are a 2 seater as well???? (see photo's above) I hope the BBI one is not a fantasy livery???? Please help me out!!! Thank you very much in advance!

BTW I hope the admin will make a new BBI subject besides 21st Century Toys because Blue Box deserves it and I think it will be better and more clear to see the differences between both producers.

As far as i know i didn't think that all black paint Jolly Roger F-18 was a real scheme....
I never seen a real picture of it.

Completely Fictious Scheme! also the picture of the all black model is a single seat c version.
VF-103 operate the twin seat F superhornet not the legacy hornet.

I have searched around and found nothing on it....So it must be fictious scheme as Zed had stated.

That being an F/A-18C Hornet (not Super Hornet) already gives it away as being a fake scheme hoping people will just buy it because it has the Skull and Crossbones.

thanks guys for the info, I still like the fantasy sheme! hopefully the us navy paint a F-18 in complete black some day.
they are sold out everywhere. only ebay shows this model only 1 or 2 per month and they are going for 300-500 euros.

Re: BBI 1:18 F-18 VFA 103 Jolly Rogers

As others have mentioned, it is fictitious livery but the BBI F-18 is a beautiful model in 1:18 scale, and you can't go wrong with that model. Btw, welcome to the forum, sukhoi.

Re: BBI 1:18 F-18 VFA 103 Jolly Rogers

Sukhoi,
Welcome to the forum. Yep, that all black F/A-18 VFA-103 is really nice. They also fetch a pretty penny when they come up on ebay. I was watching about ten days ago an auction on ebay where a guy was selling this Jolly Rogers Hornet. Someone bid it all the way up to $772.50 and won. I kid you not. These Hornets come up on ebay every once in a while and they never sell below $300. Since the most recent one sold for near $800, I would anticipate the next on up for auction will fetch between $450 on the low end and $600 on the high end. Good luck finding one.
