| chiefkhpd Good evening, I just registered on the forum and am looking forward to contributing and asking many questions. I have just recently started buying 1/32 aircraft models, mostly from 21st Century Toys at the local Walmarts. I have been building models for a number of years and like most of what I see. My questions at this time is there a 1/32 P-51 model out there that you can recommend? I bought the Me262 vs P51 set at Walmart, and although the Me262 looks very good the Mustang scares me. The wings on my Mustang actually droop from the fuselage to the wing tip and from the front the wings seem to fat. They look nothing like the actual bird or 1/48 models I have built. Please help with a good 1/32 Mustang for my collection. Thanks in advance, Dennis | |||||||||||||

| Re: chiefkhpd Welcome to the Hangar! My dad has a 1/32 Corgi P51 of Old Crow, it's a beauty!!! I would recommend one of those. | |||||||||||||

| Re: chiefkhpd Welcome aboard, Dennis! Yeah, I share your concerns about the Mustang. Still, for the money, they look purty neat. I collected every last fighter 21st Century produced until, sadly, they dried up in my AO (my blasted neighborhood Walmarts refuse to stock them anymore, the twits! | |||||||||||||

| Re: chiefkhpd Thanks guys for the welcome. I am very impressed with most of the BBI and 21st Century offerings. I am glad to see they are bringing on more Pacific theater aircraft. I will search for a Mustang for the collection and keep in touch. By the way do any of you do any further detailing of your models? I would like to sit during the winter and add detail to individual aircraft. I have ordered the appropriate markings for the German aircraft but would like to take it further with the collection for more detail. | |||||||||||||

| Re: chiefkhpd Welcome to the forum, Dennis. The 21st Century Toys 1/32nd P-51D is the first mold with thick plastic wings and prone to 'warpage' and have those unsightly ship-rivets details. I used to have two 'D's but discarded those long ago. However, their P-51B/C is a new mold and I haven't seen the flaws you mentioned...maybe I'm just lucky to find the ones in my AO that are very good to decent quality. Good luck to you finding a plastic Mustang that you will like. | |||||||||||||

Welcome aboard, Dennis! I don't detail my models, but a number of members do, and I'm sure they will be along to make some comments on that subject.

| Re: chiefkhpd Good morning, Flyxwire I will look for a P51 B/C, sounds like 21st makes changes and updates as they progress. I would like to have at least one example of all the 1/32 warbirds. I think that scale is just right for me and my current living space. Dennis | |||||||||||||

| Re: chiefkhpd Welcome, chiefkhpd. I'm sure you will find this an interesting place to exchange ideas and information. The only 21st Century product I have is a Tony , which I like. However, I defer to those who own one of their P-51s and can't comment on this model. | |||||||||||||

Dennis, if you can still find these P-51 B/C models: Shangrila and Bald Eagle...I highly recommend them! George Preddy's bluenose "Cripes A' Mighty" is also a good looking model though they're pretty hard to come by since it's packaged as a combo with an Me 262. Good luck.
