Small collection (so far)

Here's the small collection I've recently started - all in my office at work.

Very nice....I like your dogfights set up you have there..
Tex Hill's P-40 along with that print...A Perfect touch..
Those stands look cool did you make them?

Re: Small collection (so far)

Thanks. Yes - I made the stands. Simply stained 4X4, heavy wire and some clear tubing for the planes to rest on. For kicks I made little placards of sorts to go along with each plane (like below). All my coworkers call my office the aviation museum...

Re: Small collection (so far)

Very nice collection there so far Nstrong! I like the thought that you've put into each set.

I especially like the Urban Drew setup you have there. Which manufacturer makes the UD Mustang in your collection? I wish someone would make his Mustang besides 21st Century and Witty. A 1/32 or 1/35 scale would be great!

Neat looking way to display your models, looks great.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Re: Small collection (so far)

Thank again, everyone.

trex0770 - that is the 21st Detroit Miss. (All displayed are 1:32 scale.) Urban Drew is my mom's cousin so I have an obvious special affinity for him and that P-51. I just spoke with Urban a couple weeks ago and he's still hanging in there!

I'm toying around with taking an older 1:18 mustang and customizing into the Detroit Miss, but for now the only two are the one's you mentioned - 21st and Witty (which I have at home with several art pieces on the Detroit Miss)

Nstrong,
I grew up in Michigan so I automatically liked the Detroit Miss as a kid. The more I learned about his exploits, the more interested I became in his aircraft. I had the old Monogram kit when I was 10 and it was my favorite. I just wish that someone (one of the big boys) would make the Detroit Miss. It's not like it doesn't have historical significance behind it (2 Me-262 shot down in one mission, bagging the biggest Nazi plane ever built, one of two to receive the AF Cross in WWII, etc.).

Anyway, I was thinking of repainting one of my GMP Mustangs to the Detroit Miss. The easiest one to do would probably be the Glamorous Glenn but I'd hate to alter such as hard model to find. I've also got a couple of extra Missouri Armadas, Arlenes and Fred Ohrs that are harder to alter but less rare!
