Which scale would see four engine bombers?

I would really like to see 21C release some four engine bombers in small scale. There has been some talk on other forums from people in the know that someday this will happen. I hate to take on another scale but have been purchasing 1/48 planes as a hedge this is the scale they would come in. I think 1/32 may be too big for a B-17...

I'm happy with my 1/72 scale birds. I wouldn't object to 21st jumping into the fray.

Reading your post; I gotta be honest - there's a LOT of 'optimism' (dreaming ?) there !¬!!!!!!!!!!!

"small scale" to most folks means 1/200 - 1/144

((Taking some of your (above) quotes.......))

Often-times; for "people in the know" (read) "rumour"

From what limited I know from mixing with various folk who 'deal' with sales - & numerous 'collectors'........

1/48 (or) 1/32 "four engined" bombers will "sell" like 'gone-off' milk !!!!!!!!!!!!

Too much expense; coupled with manufacturers viewing THAT as "financial suicide".........

Then, throw in the simple factor, that MOST 'normal' people DON'T have the space to display (more than one) "1/48th four-engined Bombers" ; let alone 1/32 four engined stuff........

If you took a poll on this; most folks (being-real) would bear this out......

There ARE exceptions of course, but MOST collectors (maybe) live with others under the same roof !!!!!!!!!

Manufacturers aren't in this business to stick their "corporate-necks" on the "Guillotine"; which is PRECISELY what they'd do, attempting to cater for a 'mass-market' of "1/32 four-engined Bombers"

meanwhile, back in the REAL world, most folks WON'T (choose) a four-engined collection beyond 1/72nd scale.......

Re: Which scale would see four engine bombers?

I'd LOVE for 21st Century to do some 1:72 bombers. I've not purchased a Lanc or Halifax due to cost, and 21st Century would be a lot cheaper.

Yes I agree! I have the 1/48 HM Buffalos and while they are great, I wish they were in 1/72 though.

I'm with you brother. I've grabbed two Buffaloes on sale. They are great, but aren't getting much shelf time as they just look wrong somehow. (Not mould wise, that part is GREAT. Size wise they just don't fit.)

I am with you too brother! Great looking plane but needs to still be a 1/72 scale. IXO has theirs but not real interested in it. Would need the right decals and detailing.

Re: Which scale would see four engine bombers?

There have been rumors floating around that we will see a B-17 in 1/32 scale as it could fit in an XD 1/18 box, but since Walmart is no longer carrying XD planes, this may be a dead issue.. I think we will see more planes in 1/32 scale from 21st because 1/32 is a hot seller for 21st and Walmart.. I also think it is a VERY good possibility that we will see a B-25 in 1/32 in the next few years..

A 1:32 scale model would be..... WS 38.91" LG: 28.03"

1:48 .................................................. .................................................. ......25.94" 18.68"
1:144............................................. .................................................. ............8.64" 6.22"

T0 the nearest decimal point.

Ouch, don't hold back hornchurch!

I think I forget this forum is focused on diecast 1/72ish models. I have 20+ 1/18 21C planes and I know of others who have hundreds, so for us 1/32 and 1/48 is small. Just passing on some news (rumors).
