Yeah, but all that aside Hornchurch, it is only $900.00.

Oh, in that case, I'll have 4

(& at THAT PRICE they CAN'T sort the paint out ?

Re: Which scale would see four engine bombers?

I'd have to go with 1/144th as the ideal bomber scale. I think it's the most practical in terms of size and cost. Especially if someone decides to make a diecast B-36!

Ouch, don't hold back Hornchurch!

I think I forget this forum is focused on diecast 1/72ish models. I have 20+ 1/18 21C planes and I know of others who have hundreds, so for us 1/32 and 1/48 is small. Just passing on some news (rumors).

........ no room for the big stuff.

As some have noted it's really a question of potential profitability for the marketer and a combination of display/storage space plus price for the average collector. Therefore, there's little chance for an extensive four engine bomber line in 1:48th, let alone, 1:32nd scale.

Olifant - please accept my apologies if I came across as 'harsh'
Wasn't meant to be 'antagonistic'
Just an observation that GENERALLY folks who buy Diecast planes WON'T patronise buying HUGE Bomber/Transports in any great number........
(certainly not sustainable by ANY major-manufacturer)
You only have to look at the amount of 1/72nd scale B.24 Liberators that remain unsold in the U.K. to see that.
Same goes for the (SUPERB) 1/72nd scale Catalina
There are SEVERAL (major) stores where I can go (tomorrow) & buy the above, at 1/2 price,
CAUSE THEY AIN'T SELLING !!!!!!!!!
& that's just 1/72 = there are 1/48th B.25 Mitchells sitting around from one month, to another.
-------------------
I've just bought a gorgeous 1/48th B.25, for a paltry £ 20....... & at that price, most folks (here) don't want to know !
I've used Cruver' & Epapazian's quotes (above), to HIGHLIGHT what I was 'getting-at' in my 1st post !!!!!!!!!!!
Trust you catch my drift............?

No worries hornchurch. New to the forum and I don't know the lay of the land. I am glad that there are some large scale fans here. I agree that the four engine Corgi stuff doesn't move, but I think that is directed at a different audience. $150 for diecast puts those in a different league than potential 21C plastic releases for a third of that.
