Re: BBI 1:18 hellcat info

Here's my honest assesment of the BBI Hellcat. First the wing fold. The wing fold is ok but wrong. When the wings are folded they should fold in like this / \ when veiwed from the front. Instead they look like this I I and thats wrong. For me its forgivable but for some its a negative. Just look at the 21st Avenger on how the wings should look folded. They should be like that. As for the construction of the Hellcat? Well first of all there are gaps along the fusalge spine and belly. Those are easy to fix by filling them in with modelling putty and paint the spine sea blue and the belly off white. Some have had problems with the landing gear but me I havent had any the same goes with the elevators and rudder which all work fine. I think the BBI Hellcat is very very nice and a good representation of the F6F in general. The cockpit is the best in 1/18th bar none! There were no messy paint screw ups on mine either and thats also a plus for me. I give the Hellcat an A- because of the wing fold.

If you have a chance to buy one get it because its one of the best 1/18th aircraft out there in my book. If you do get one see if you can come up a spare set of Avenger tires to replace the Hellcat tires. I did on mine and it looks even better.

Just my thoughts.
