BBI 1/32nd F-4 Phantom II VF-84

Last edited by Canucklehead : 11-26-2007 at 07:10 PM. Reason: direct hyperlink to retail site
I saw these pics on The Flying Mule site:
BBI 00311 - Display Model F-4 Phantom II USN VF-84 Jolly Rogers, AE200, USS Roosevelt, 1970: The Flying Mule

Can anyone confirm if the final release will include 2 pilots or not? and also whether both canopies can be opened?
the pics look to me like only the pilot's canopy can open

Re: BBI 1/32nd F-4 Phantom II VF-84

I also posted on this a few weeks ago. On Badcat's website, it says BBI's F-4J, comes with "hinged canopy" and "removable pilot"--both singular. A photo shows only one crewman.
I assume that the BBI F-4J only comes with the pilot and no RIO.

ANDREW:

From Militarytoyshop.com about the BBI 1/32 F-4J:

1. 'Includes pilot and co-pilot"
2. "Optional open or closed canopies"

so the just 1 pilot was pre-production right?
or does this shop have their info wrong?
Maybe will have to wait until its released to find out

ANDREW:

I wish I had the answer to the 1-2 pilot question. It seems bizarre that BBI would make a big splash introductory jet with only 1 of 2 crewmen.

I'm hoping BBI follows up the F-4J with Steve Ritchie's F-4E (21st Century's 1/18 Ritchie F-4D is too big at 41" long)...or a Vietnam War F-4E with the Tigershark nose paint----with 2 pilots.

ANDREW:

The BBI F-4J is released today.
Badcat now says it has opening canopies and removable pilots--- both plural.
Badcat's photo of the F-4J cockpits are great---the instrument panels look fantastic.

I wonder if the F-4J will show up at ToysRUs?

HWORTH18:

As I've said before, I'm wary of buying online due to defects---look at Badcat's photos and you'll see 2 bent pitot tubes on the tail...

It would be a lot easier to return a defective F-4J (23.5" long) to ToysRUs than to Badcat, et al.

Well hopefully TARGET stores will get them too...eventually!

FLYXWIRE:

On Target.com, the only Blue Box planes were the F-16 and the P-51 Donald Duck. I hope they get the F-4J, too. I want to see it and check for defects before I decide to buy it.
