Re: The Best 1/18th Aircraft. (So Far).

..............................

just kidding, I haven't seen any Hellcats at my local Toys 'R Us and they usually get BBI items in right away. I can get you a UPC from the Hellcat I got from BCA if you'd like.

If you could post the UPC that would be great
Thanks

Smile Re: The Best 1/18th Aircraft. (So Far).

I would have to say that the wing fold on the Hellcat is the only drawback to an otherwise well done beautiful 1/18th plane. BUT they do have a wing dehedral to it and that is something they dont have on their Mustangs which really irks the crap out of me. I have compared the 21st and BBI Mustangs side by side and even though the new tool Mustang lacks the detail of the BBI Stang the 21st Mustang is slightly better and more accurate. Thats another story though. Comparing my Hellcat and Marines Dream F4U now its really really close. There is just something about Marines Dream that grabs me and I dont know if its the paint scheme, detail or whatever it is but there is just something that really gets me about it. I have to say if I had to get rid of all my 1/18th planes Marines Dream is the only one I would keep and thats coming from a die hard Mustang fan! But that being said my Hellcat is one step ahead because of the tire swap I did with some Avenger tires which made a huge difference in the overall look of the plane itself plus the cockpit is a gem. The only drawback is the Hellcat wingfold which I think they could have gotton right but I think BBI may have been under some pressure to get it out instead of keep delaying it. But if you look at the way the BBI Corsairs wings fold they are somewhat wrong as well. The should be like this when folded: /\. The leading edges of the wings should meet when folded like the 21st Century Corsairs do. My Kepford Corsair's fings fold perfectly. I know I may be a bit anal about these things but you can see the difference if you have the 2 different Corsairs. So that being said there is drawbacks to both the F6F and Corsair series from BBI. My Hellcat is still the front runner though that is unless I get BBI's 1/18th Mustang "Killer" which I am currently negotiating a trade for. If I get "Killer" then the rest of my Mustangs go on the "for sale" block including HHH. Why? Because it hails from the 354th FG who I have strong ties to.

I also like BBI's 1:18 A6M2 Zero fighter, which is being reissued for those of you who never got one - the militarytoyshop.com will have this next month. The super-detailed removeable cockpit tub is worth having this bird in your collection as well.

I know that's cool too to have BBI do that with their Zero....I got mine on pre-order.
Now all the buyers who paid like 200-300 the last 2 months on the Ebay have got to be a little mad
right now about that too......

Re: The Best 1/18th Aircraft. (So Far).

will have to say the BBI corsair would like to vote for the hellcat but the wing fold runes it. they should have got it right. it is good on the avenger

Your not wrong in your vote miket. I think the only negative I have is the wing fold on the Hellcat. But It is still my favorite due to its a Hellcat, a plane I never thought I would ever see in 1/18th scale. But Marines Dream is a very close second followed up by my near perfect 21st Old Crow Mustang.

But good choice and you wont get no argument from me.
