21st Century 1/144 Airplanes

Last edited by bsmith13 : 11-20-2007 at 04:17 AM.
Does anybody else buy these? Since I already have the Johnny Lightning 1/144 airplanes, I buy these when I see them.

Updated 19 Nov 07. Here's what's been released, as far as I can tell. I haven't finished researching the liveries yet, so please be patient with my childish descriptions:

Airplanes Series I
P-51D Mustang - Lou IV, 361st FG (Yellow Nose)
F6F Hellcat - three color, White 12, VF-1 or VF-5 from the USS Yorktown
Me-262 - JG7, red and blue fuselage band
Ki-84 - 3rd Squadron, 47th Flight Regiment, Hinomaru on white bands

Airplanes Series II (Also called Pacific Fighters II on the website, which doesn't make sense, as there are two undocumented planes there that came out in this release)
P-51D Mustang - Miss Marilyn II, 55th FG
F6F Hellcat - VF-29 USS Cabot
Me-262 - Green mottled with gray, Yellow 3, blue/white checkered fuselage band
Ki-84 - Bare metal, blue rudder flash and blue spinner

Airplanes Series III
Fw-190 - brown/green, double chevron
Fw-190 - Black and white striped cowl, black 3
A6M Zero - double chevron on fuselage
A6M Zero - double yellow band on fuselage

Dogfight Series (Each box contains two fighters. The website nomenclature is confusing, as I found all three sets at once. The website calls this Dogfight Series I and II)
P-51D - Ridge Runner
vs
ME262 - White 5, yellow fuselage band

F6F Hellcat - three color with eyes and mouth, USS Princeton?
vs
Ki-84 - bare metal mottled with green

F6F Hellcat - Fleet Air Arm with invasion stripes
vs
FW190A - Black 13 - -

F6F Hellcat- McCampbell
A6M Zero - Yellow fuselage band

P-51D Mustang - Old Crow
?

SBD Dauntless - Battle of Coral Sea
A6M2 Zero - Yellow fuselage band

Re: 21st Century 1/144 Airplanes

I collect these and have all of them to date.. They are neat and VERY cheap, which is appealing..

Ditto! Are there any new ones from this series that are coming out, Harry? Thanks!

I don't know of any new ones other than the 190/Hellcat combo out now, which is unusual, because 21st normally doesn't issue just one set..

Re: 21st Century 1/144 Airplanes

Nice!!! Thanks for the pic, Harry. I can't wait to post a pic of one of my 1/6 Luftwaffe pilot next to that Fw-190!

Now if only 21st Century would render these in diecast....

Re: 21st Century 1/144 Airplanes

The FW-190 that came in my set had no brown - just grey and green.

Re: 21st Century 1/144 Airplanes

Do these require assembly?
Also, where canyou find them?

I've got some Doyusha Spit mk VB's, P-51D's, Fw-190A-5's and Zeros. They're 1/100 but the look really good. will put some pics up later. All pre-painted. onlt assembly is required. Missed out on the Bf109F's though, which is a pitty.

Andrew,
These come pre-assembled and mounted on a plastic base by a single screw.. They run about $4.00 each..
