Re: 21st Century 1/144 Airplanes

Don't have any 1:144 fighters or dive bombers. Could be the start of something NEW!!! Thanks for the the photos.

You're welcome, swoop! One thing you need to be aware of is that when you come across these things at Walmart, you really have to carefully select the ones that
are decently made with acceptable paint and markings application, no crooked props, frosted canopy, sloppy glue residues etc.!
I mean there are plenty of noticeable quality issues even at this smaller scaled models and 21st CT really needs to address those.

Re: 21st Century 1/144 Airplanes

That's a great point, FlyX!! From what I've seen, about 75% of the models have a major fit or finish issue. I was going to get the Bud Anderson Old Crow Mustang/FW190 pairing but of the 5 sets none were acceptable. Some had completely flat wings while others had the right dihedral but the canopy was completely white from glue residue.

Another tip, give the box a tap before you buy. I've seen plenty of FW-190's where the entire engine has fallen off! If these were $1 each I could excuse it, but they're asking over $3 for pretty sub-standard stuff.

I'm guessin' the QC on a 3 dollar item destined for the toy aisles of Wally World probably ain't all that exactin'.....just a hunch though....

Ya think??? I'd say that's a pretty good hunch!

Re: 21st Century 1/144 Airplanes

I don't expect there's ANY QC on a $3 product, but I'd expect the production quality of these to be better, considering they're as bad as the Bachmann miniplanes of about 40 years ago, and they're about the same price as the far superior Corgi Showcase diecast metal planes!

My point really is one of price point rather than quality. These should be about $1, not $3!

True, and QC seems to be hit-miss as some boxes are relatively problem free while sorting thru full boxes of others produces only a few select decent planes..
