Wow....can't even remember how long ago this was announced. I really like those ground crew figures, and the supplies.....definitley a great idea by 21st Century. They could make a mint if they sold them seperatley, but maybe that's the idea.

Me too.....But i thought the Marines had Khaki uniforms too in the Pacific theater not just green ones.
when they worked on the Corsairs.

Hi StarMan,
There is only one way to save your self on this Corsair PB's version had 4 blades on it. You know he lived in Coeurdalene Idaho and frequented the Cafe at Felts Field here in Spokane WA. We have a guy that is a Corsair collector. Just a heads up....Alph

I thought only the LATE Corsairs had the 4-bladed props??

Anyway, here is a rare pic of Pappy's "operational" plane and its a 3- blader...

Great pic. I can hear Robert Conrad talking now. "Col. Lard was a rule man. I had nothing against rules. I even liked them. I liked to break them."

Alph,
I have seen his WWII F4U-1 Corsairs pictures and all of them are 3 blades props.
That 4 bladed prop didn't come out till later on the F4U-4 entering service four months before the end of hostilities in 1945. It had the dual-stage, supercharged R-2800-18W engine which produced 2,100 hp (1,566 kW) of power. When the cylinders were injected with the water/alcohol mixture, power was boosted to 2,450 hp (1,827 kW). The aircraft required an air scoop under the nose and the unarmored wing fuel tanks of 62 U.S. gal capacities were removed for better maneuverability in expense of maximum range. The propeller had one additional blade, bringing the total to four blades. Maximum speed was increased to a 448 mph.

You are correct Harry.
The F4U-4 is the first four blade Corsair
to go into service.
