Re: Is 21st 1/32 planes a good collection

Bernard,
21st Century planes are really great!!! I have probably 30+ planes and the most recent releases (Corsair, Bf-109F/G, Stuka, and Zeros) are especially nice and hard to beat at the price ($14.99 each)..

So, if you don't mind plastic, I highly recommend you pick one up and see for yourself.. There are also pictures posted in this forum so you can see what they look like..

WALLY WORLD of course! My local Wal Mart stores are hit and miss with respect to availability but if you are persistent in your search they can be found.

I get mine at Wally's as well (only because no one makes them in a diecast yet)...Most on-line retailers will have them listed a little more price wise.
I have a FW190 i got from Hworth last year and it's one of my favorites.
I have to tell ya...The F4U Corsair Jolly Rogers "Big Hog" INHO is the best one in the bunch the lines are really great.

Can you buy them on-line cheap? Does Toy 'R' Us carry them? Are they better than BBI?

Re: Is 21st 1/32 planes a good collection

At Wal Mart, the 1/32 21st Century planes usually go for $14.99 and the 1/18 planes retail for $39.99 (USD). On-line, you can expect to pay ~$25 for a 1/32 and ~$60+ for a 1/18 plane.

The downside is that Wal Mart's selection is generally hit and miss and the boxes are smashed 50% of the time (and the planes damaged). You have to be real careful when buying to look for hidden damage from the box being dropped 100 times. Also the general Wal Mart employee can't tell a P-51 from an F-86.

On-line, you are dealing with a great selection, merchandise in great condition and someone who knows and appreciates collecting. You pay more but the service and selection are much better.

TRU carries BBI for about $50 but again selection is limited.

Re: Is 21st 1/32 planes a good collection

bbi only makes 1/18 so comparison is tough. They are weathered some and the recent series has excellent stencil markings. $14.99 is the WM price and online expect nearly $30 including shipping. Not worth it at that price in my view unless you miss one at WM and have to have it. They're so good that all but nerds like us can't tell them from the metal ones from 3 feet away.

Re: Is 21st 1/32 planes a good collection

Unfortunately, I hear that 21st Century planes are NOT available in Canadian Walmarts.. But on the plus side, the Flyingmule.com carries all the 32x planes and at pretty reasonable prices..
