| Re: Is 21st 1/32 planes a good collection I recently acquired the 21st Century F-4U "Jolly Rogers" Corsair, and it has somewhat upped my opinion of this range of models. It's much better than the P-47 and Macchi that I have (and I only paid $14.95). The only real negative I have on this one is the folding wings, which necessarily create an unsightly gap (not huge, but still too big for my liking) in the wings. Moving parts are not always better (in fact, in my experience thay are rarely perfectly done). Of course the advantage is if you're short on space, you can display it wings up. This is my first 21st Century 1/32 model that I could put next to my same-scale Corgis and not feel like it's completely out of place (still well short of the Corgi quality, but OK nonetheless). | Re: Is 21st 1/32 planes a good collection I picked up the 21st Century 1/32 P-47D Tarheel Hal at Wally World two days ago, and all I can say is, Wow! Ah, screw it. I’ll say more. It’s so flippin’ cool, anybody would like it, avid 1/32 collector or not. I do have two little problems with it, though (three, actually) ... Compare the above pic of the actual 21st Century model to the kit-built model below. See a difference? 21st Century's canopy bulges way too high, like a water blister ready to pop. Not to mention that the pilot figure of Lt. "Ike" Davis sits way too low: he can't even see over the dash. Oh, yea ... and this ... To accommodate the moving canopy, 21st chiseled a 3/4 inch slot right behind the bubble, which, in my humble opinion, kind of ruins the effect -- know what I mean? Too toy like. Otherwise, she's a winner! | |||||||||||||

| Re: Is 21st 1/32 planes a good collection While not referring specifically to 21st century 1/32 planes, I will reply on the issue of 1/32 plastic pre-built planes and report on the BBI 1/32 F-4 Phantom and Dauntless SBD I saw this weekend at the Weekend of Heroes show in Pomona, California. All I can say is WOW! The Phantom looks like it will be amazing and the Dauntless looks pretty slick, as well. I think these were pre-production models, or maybe not. But either way, I would say BBI is upping the ante. They had signs indicating availability as "soon" and price "TBD." I believe both will be in Toys-R-Us. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Is 21st 1/32 planes a good collection Ya 21st has a good collection in 1/32nd but I have only bought one of them that being the Big Hog F4U Corsair. When I got it I was dissapointed. Why? Because of so many loose parts that I had to fix. My freind got another Corsair with the same problem. 21st is letting me down. | |||||||||||||
