Trying to find anything Military wise at a Canadian Wall Mart is hard. There stores have gone very politacly correct over here since 9 11. You can find the odd diecast tank or army truck if you look hard but not much else.

Re: Is 21st 1/32 planes a good collection

Is 21st 1/32 planes a good collection and are the planes weather/good details?

Two words: ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING!

And if that isn't enough hyperbole, let me further state that 21st Century 1/32 aircraft are – Ehem – OUTSTANDING!

You've got to see these masterpieces up close and personal to really appreciate their beauty, but take my word for it, Bernard, they're stunning. Whoever sculpted the molds really knew their stuff; in fact, I'd say they were artists. GIFTED artists.

I was so impressed with their accuracy and precision (not to mention their careful attention to camo colors, etc.) that I wound up purchasing ever single 1/32 plane 21st Century makes. Without exception, they're not only faithful facsimiles, but they convey a tangible presence, a convincing bearing and carriage found only in exacting, high-quality models. They're that good.

The only downside (if it's a downside) is they're plastic, head to toe. Not a stick of diecast anywhere. Which might vex some collectors; but for me, plastic or not, they're just too appealing to pass by.

Uh ... I ... uh ... I was going to, but somehow, the CEO looked a little too, ummm ... historical.

Re: Is 21st 1/32 planes a good collection

OK, now, I HAVE to be a dissenting voice here.

I only own three of these (Macchi 202, P-47, and Me-262), and yes, they are cheap, but they look it too. The Macchi is the best of the ones I've got, but all have skinny, unrealistic-looking undercarriage, look VERY plasticky (if that's a word), and in NO WAY compare to large-scale metal diecast models such as Corgi's or GMP. Detail and finish are WAY below the latter's standard.

Now, if you want to talk value-for-the-money, it's up to individual decision/preferrences, but don't expect these models to look/feel like true diecast, even from a distance (well, OK, maybe from 300 yards away...). Personally, I don't think I will buy any more of them (even though I really, really want a 1/32 Corsair).

I'm not sure I'd go quite as far as Gort, but I like my 21st Century aircraft a whole lot. With the exception of the landing gear, which does not both me too much, I think they are very well done. Plastic-schmastic, I do not care, can't really tell with them just sitting there.

21st is a great brand of models I have a few of them hanging on my ceiling. Non model collectors can't tell if they are plastic or diecast.

Nice to see good'ol Gort back.

Keep'em flying.

Hey, it's the Captain and the Kaptin ... how's it goin', guys?!

Yep ... 21st Century models are the bees' knees. Might not be purrrrrfect rivet for rivet, but they're dead ringers in my book. Worth every penny. Only wish 21st would produce the FW-190A and/or good ol' Spit. Come to think of it, an F6F Hellcat would do nicely, too.

Re: Is 21st 1/32 planes a good collection

I display most of mine gear up on stands or hanging and they look great. The colors are spot on and form 5' away nobody I know can tell what they are made of.

Most people who see my collection think I built them all, until I tell them. Heck, I pretty much only built the shelves........

Don't forget the targets are my airfields, Leigh-Mallory, and you're not getting fifty, you're not even getting ten.
