In the shadows

Hi Guys,
Since I signed up with this group I've learned alot about the demography of the average model collector. Specificly in 1:18th scale. Along with reasearch at toy stores I've found that these ARE NOT being given to children but being sold on EBay.
One can go on line and see 9 early Avengers on auction. As well as some of the easier to find Fighters. This group is invaluable for a collector as many of you are searching for similar models. I though after I got my German F-109 that I'd never find the tiger striped one, it was consistant dropping in at Walmart to do it but it paid off. My wife knows her aircraft too. The slight chance these models are actually being played with is a comfort as the more they bust up the more rare our picks become. I think you have a good idea of why I collect. Rare/ Rare /Rare.

Re: In the shadows

I have only one 1/18 scale plane, the 21st Century Spitfire. I have a number of 1/32. My son thinks they are neat, but would rather spend his money on something else.

I have only one 1/18 scale plane, the 21st Century Spitfire.

Please excuse my total lack of knowledge on this scale/subject, but I'm wondering whether (or NOT) these are marketed under a different name, on this side of the Atlantic ???

Corgi 'Classic Warbirds' in 1;18th scale ???

The Fw 190 'Dora 9' that hworth18 photo/posted on 23rd Dec, looks identical to the one I saw on E-bay U.K. under that banner/heading/trademark.

Same goes with the Green Stuka (also 1;18th)

bsmith13 - the reason I lifted your quote (at top) is because I also have

a new & boxed 1;18th scale Spitfire (with the box packaged as C.C.W.)

The fuselage codes/markings are NK*K (Borough of Lambeth) serial P.8088

Are they one & the same ? or TOTALLY different ????????

(P.S. because of it's LARGE scale, I bought it to use as a Weather Vane !!!!!)

Re: In the shadows

That is a cool idea Hornchurch. Just make sure that you clear coat it so that it will stand up to the weather a little more.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: In the shadows

Hi BSmith,
"See" Myself is yet to find a Spitfire and really want one, I pretty much stick with buying from Walmart to make collecting more intresting. I would add that these models are so bulky that most guys don't buy them. This forum is truely an asset because of guys like the fellow who has Flight 19. This tells me that I should expect to see this model in our stores within 3to4 months. All models accept my LittleBird was bought through Walmart. I'm pretty much playing catch up to the F-16-18 and two others. After that I'm just watching to see what 21st Century offers. I'm just havin too much fun. Weather vanes are an awsome idea too. Go to GardenAirways.com and see how you could mount your 1:18th models.

Thanks M.D.

Had to 'mug' the wife off with an excuse, for buying a bird that size......

Wife; W.T.F. you bought THAT for, It's HUGE

Self; Aah, to (Ahem) use as a Weather Vane, on our Eucalyptus Tree-stump

Wife; Oh, O.K. then.

Idea came from a family visit to Dover/Capel-le-Ferne, where the building that serves as a 'Visitor-Centre', has a superb piece of Blacksmith's artwork, on top of their roof......

An accurate outline (Black painted cast-iron) of three a/c shillouette's, on the top of the Vane, depicting a Hurricane & Spitfire, chasing a Stuka out to Sea, across the English Channel.

So in answer to my 'Post No 3'.......are these one & the same???, & has the Spitfire got the same markings.........
NK*K Borough of Lambeth, P.8088 ?????

These are 21st Century planes that are carried by Corgi classic.. They also sell the Euro-exclusive Fw-190D9 and Panzer IV that aren't available here in the states.. But the answer to your question is YES.. They are one & the same..

Re: In the shadows

I've had my eye on the Tiger Meet CF-104 at various online retailers, but the $60 price tag has left its acquisition on the back burner thus far. Add on the $20 or so it would cost to post one to Canada, and it's just about out of reach. Are these honestly worth the big price tag?

I'd try Wal-Mart but the Canadian version doesn't carry 21st Century Toys product. How much do the F-104s go for at the WMs down in the States?
