Another key consequence of the bombing raids was the fact that flak guns (especially the '88') that could have been used on the front lines were held back for AA defence duties of both cities and key industrial targets. Apparently, had these units been available for service in the ground war, Allied losses would most likely have been far higher than they were (especially on the Eastern Front).
