I think I'm just one of those old school collectors that equates the word "diecast" with metal. Also, I predominantly collect aircraft and I don't think we've yet to see the detail vs metal disparity when it comes to detail. (Except of course for the larger scales -- 1:32 Phantom from BBI and the 1:18 stuff that I don't collect -- and the Tamiya Masterworks stuff, which is super-pricey).

Can't say it's for the "feeling" but I defintely prefer metal over plastic. I don't have any plastic models in my collection at the moment, and can't seem to bring myself to add any.
