I went through a phase where I decided to only collect 1/48 , due mainly to the impact of the
truly superb Carousel 1 FW190Ds and EI's P51B/C Mustangs
.
It didn't last long as
1/72 still reigns supreme for the 'heavies' as well as all those other little esoteric models and liveries that 'round out' a collection so well. I've made peace with the fact that I collect all scales with the main focus being 1/48 for single engined fighters and 1/72 for multi-engined aircraft (with numerous 1/72 single engined models thrown in for scale comparison purposes of course
.) (Modern jets = 1/72 scale only, except for 1/400 transports/AWACS.)
My collection of 1/35 GMP P51D Mustangs and Minichamps armour is still sacrosanct as are my 1/32 Corgi Bf109Gs ... there is really no hope for me to even try and limit myself to any one scale!
