| I had a customer in my store about an hour ago. As he was browsing, he said that he used to refuel A-4 Skyhawks & A-6's in the '70s when he was overseas. I asked him which carrier he was on and he said that he wasn't on a carrier-- he was in the Air Force and refueled Skyhawks and Intruders at the AFB he was stationed at. At that point, I didn't bother to ask him which AFB he was stationed at as I figured he was high on meth-- something that is quite common here in Phoenix.
Did the Navy routinely refuel A-4s & A-6s at Air Force Bases in the 1970's? | When I was stationed at Castle AFB back in the way back machine, well you could always tell if the tankers had been refueling Navy birds. Coming home with the droopy basket on their booms. |
