| Re: The 3rd 1/32 Dauntless I am not disappointed in this scheme. I am just happy that they are doing an SBD-5 in the tri-color scheme.
They seem to be following their pattern with the previous two 1/32 Dauntlesses of releasing airplanes that are more historically significant rather than being the most colorful scheme available. The first was Wade McCluskey's SBD-3 from the Battle of Midway, where he led the Enterprise air group to the Japanese fleet. The second is the delivery scheme of SBD-2 #2106 which survived Pearl Harbor and Midway, and survives on display at the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola. This third release was the SBD-5 of Major Elmer Glidden, the leading USMC dive bomber pilot of WW2, who served at Midway, Guadalcanal, etc. So, I kind of like that they are going with these historic schemes--- and for what it's worth, I think they look good as well. |
